Mountain Bikers & Cyclists

Welcome to Cannock Chase!

Mountain Biking on Cannock Chase is hugely popular and all those riders can have quite an impact on the the protected landscape of the Chase.

However there are a few simple things you can do to tread (or wheel) as lightly as possible.

Please help us keep it special.

Take it Steady

There are all sorts of riders & walkers on the Chase as well as livestock and horse riders, take care of yourself and them as you pass each other.

Care For Your Kit

Some of the protected species on Cannock Chase are vulnerable to diseases brought in from elsewhere. Please make sure your bike and kit are clean when you come to ride here.

Ride in the Light

Especially in the summer whilst species that migrate to the Chase are breeding. Many species use the dark to hunt and feed. Please give them space to thrive.

Leave Space for Nature

Undisturbed habitat for protected species is disappearing. We are lucky to have 26 miles of official cycle routes, and a network of 82.6 miles of bridleways for cyclists to enjoy.  If it is not an official trail or bridleway, please don't ride it.

Don't Dig

Building trails is not permitted anywhere on the Chase including the woodlands & forest. Building damages habitats, disturbs wildlife and directs resources away from maintaining and improving official trails.
