Discover Brocton Coppice

From here, you can see an impressive stand of Sessile Oaks.

  • Oak trees support more wildlife than any other native trees.
  • The Sessile Oak is less common than the English Oak and mainly found in hilly regions in the north and west of the country.
  • Against all odds, from tiny acorns, the trees have grown into ancient sessile oaks.
  • All the oaks on Cannock Chase have fought to survive on poor, thin soils, making regeneration difficult. So, we all need to take special care to look after the wonderful oak trees that we have.
