Skylark

These vocal birds are often thought of as the sound of summer.  Widespread across the UK they like to nest in short grass and crop fields and feed on seeds, plants and insects.

Skylark are larger than woodlark and have longer tails with white edges.  They are more common than woodlark.

Rangers put out signs in the summer in areas where skylark nest to remind you to keep to the paths and dogs on a lead.
