Insect Week 2026

Cannock Chase SAC Team, invite you to discover the amazing world of insects on Cannock Chase, through a series of events during Insect Week 

Moth – Morning   –   Saturday 20th June
8:00am – 10:00 am

Did you know that there are 2,500 species of moths recorded in the UK?

Some use tricks to avoid being eaten by bats.   Are you aware that moths can smell each other over long distances? And do you know how a moth steals honey from a beehive without being stung?

Come and discover the fascinating world of moths and see which moths we manage to spot.

This will be an 8am meet, for an 8.15am start. Running till around 10am. £5.00 per person.

Meet at Cannock Chase Visitors Centre, Marquis Drive, Hednesford.

 

Insectafest – Saturday 27th June
12:00 noon – 4:00pm. 

A fun afternoon for all ages to celebrate the amazing world of insects.

Come and visit the Cannock Chase SAC Team and take part in their special insect activities.  Visit the other stands focused on different aspects of the insect world.

There will also be face painting for children.

Welsh Clearwing Discovery Walk
Sunday 28th June
10:00am – 12:00 noon

Join expert Steven Barnes and learn all about this rare moth.  On Cannock Chase SAC we have the largest population of Welsh Clearwing moths in the UK

Butterfly Walk
Sunday 28th June
1.30pm – 3.30pm

Cannock Chase has some amazing butterflies.  Join Al and Claire on a special butterfly walk.  Learn all about these amazing insects and their habitats.

£5.00 per person. Meet at Cannock Chase Visitors Centre , Marquis Drive, Hednesford.
