Heath Week 2025

A week of activities to celebrate the amazing landscape we have on the Chase and surrounding heathland.
Wed 30th July Chasewater Heathland Walk 10:30am – 13:00pm
Join Countryside Officer Heather Williams and SAC Engagement Officer Claire Studman on a heathland walk around the beautiful and rare lowland Heath Habitats. This is a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty and learn about the local flora and fauna.
Natural England colleagues will be present to mention the ‘Purple Horizons’ heathland project.
The walking route follows the green route around Chasewater’s Country Park, it has a variety of terrains to walk through suitable for more robust mobility scooters and pushchair.

Wednesday 30th July Children’s Heathland Themed Craft Session 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Based at Chasewater Country Park, Innovation Centre Free drop-in session. Nature themed activities for children as part of Heath Week. No booking required. Materials and supplies will be provided.

Thursday 31st July Cannock Chase Heathland Corridor Walk 10:00am – 12:00pm
Join the Southern Heathland Ranger team for a stroll and chat in the heathland Corridor to celebrate National Heath week, working in partnership with the Cannock Chase SAC. Learn some fantastic facts about the heathland habitat and wildlife that lives in it whilst also learning about what goes on behind the scenes, to make the heathland habitat looking like it does on Cannock Chase.

Friday 1st August Heathland Activities – Drop in Day 11:00am – 3:00pm
A fun day of heathland based activities for all ages. Come and meet the Prevent Fire Team and local police. learn about their work to help protect our precious heathland and what you can do to help. Other activities include, heathland story telling sessions for children, face painting, Cannock Chase SAC Team stand with activities.
Saturday 2nd August Wildlife and Management of Hednesford Hills 10:30am – 12:00pm
Join the Ecology Officer, Cannock Chase District Council, for a Walk to discover the wildlife and management of Hednesford Hills. Sunday 3rd August Heathland Walk 9:00am – 11:00am
Join Staffordshire County Council Engagement team, as they show you the amazing world of heathlands. You will be shown around heathland habitats and see creatures that call this special and rare habitat home. You will learn about the ecology and management that goes into the Cannock Chase’s heathlands, and how we manage it for specific species.
